1. No clear value proposition above the fold

Visitors decide in seconds whether your site is relevant. If the first thing they see is a vague slogan or your company name, they're gone. Above the fold, you need one clear sentence: who you help, what you do, and why you.

Fix: "We build websites that turn visitors into paying customers — custom, SEO-ready, delivered in 3–5 weeks." That tells them everything in one line.

2. Weak or missing calls to action

A surprising number of sites never tell the visitor what to do. There's no "Book a Call," no "Get a Quote," just content that ends nowhere. Visitors need a next step — visible, repeated, impossible to miss.

Fix: One primary CTA per page, repeated above the fold, mid-page and at the end. Make it specific: "Get My Free Quote" beats "Learn More" every time.

3. No trust signals

People buy from businesses they trust. If your site shows no reviews, no client logos, no ratings, no guarantees — you're asking strangers to hand you money with zero evidence you're good at what you do.

Fix: Testimonials with names and faces, star ratings, case studies, guarantees, and any press or partnerships. Trust is the highest-converting element on any page.

4. Slow loading on mobile

Every second of load time costs you conversions. On mobile, where most of your traffic lives, a slow site isn't just annoying — it's disqualifying. Half your visitors are gone before the page paints.

Fix: Compress images, remove heavy scripts, enable caching. If you're not sure how fast your site is, my free SEO checker will tell you.

5. Forms that ask too much

Every field you add is a reason to abandon. Name, email, phone, company, budget, timeline, "how did you hear about us" — each one is a small wall between you and the lead.

Fix: Ask for the minimum. Name and message is enough to start a conversation. You can qualify later — once they're already talking to you.

6. Too many distractions

Ten menu items, three popups, a slider, a live chat that triggers instantly, links to everywhere — your visitor is being pulled in ten directions and ends up taking none of them.

Fix: One goal per page, one primary path. Kill the popups, trim the menu, and let the visitor focus on the single action you want them to take.

7. A mobile experience that's an afterthought

If you're still thinking of mobile as "desktop but smaller," you're losing most of your traffic. Mobile visitors are on the go, often one-handed, and extremely impatient.

Fix: Big buttons, thumb-friendly navigation, no tiny text, and fast loads on a 4G connection. Design for mobile first — desktop will take care of itself.

The good news

Every single one of these is fixable — most without a full redesign. And when you fix them together, the compounding effect on your conversion rate is dramatic. A site that turns 1% of visitors into leads becoming a 3% site has tripled its growth for free.
